New Holland Super Boom Road Show Events Benefit Red Cross

In celebration of the launch of the new 200 Series skid steer loaders and compact track loaders, New Holland Construction sponsored a year-long series of Super Boom Road Show events across North America in 2011. These events, held at more than 30 New Holland dealerships, also provided fundraising and volunteer opportunities with local chapters of the American Red Cross and the Canadian Red Cross. As part of the world’s largest humanitarian organization, the Red Cross works to prevent and alleviate human suffering wherever it may be found.

“New Holland Construction is in a unique position to support the efforts of local Red Cross chapters across the United States and Canada,” said December, marketing manager at New Holland Construction. “The Super Boom Road Shows gave New Holland Construction dealers and customers an opportunity to make a difference in their communities – in addition to the causes they currently support.”

The partnership with the Red Cross began at the 2011 CONEXPO-CON/AGG show in Las Vegas in March, where New Holland Construction presented a $2,500 donation to the American Red Cross Southern Nevada Chapter to kick-off the Super Boom Road Show program. New Holland Construction dealers and customers have showed continued support with the Super Boom Road Show events. At each event, local Red Cross chapter representatives were on site to generate awareness of local activities and recruit volunteers.

New Holland Construction also made a $500 contribution to each Red Cross chapter that participated in the Super Boom Road Show events.

“On behalf of New Holland Construction, I’m pleased to announce that, to date, New Holland Construction and our dealers have donated more than $29,000 to the Red Cross through the Super Boom Road Show events in the United States and Canada,” December said.

New Holland Construction will also be donating the net proceeds from the auction of two limited edition 200 Series skid steer loaders to the American Red Cross. The special auction begins at 8 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 27, 2011, with a minimum starting bid of US$50,000.00 for the “Cruis’n” L220 skid steer loader and US$58,000.00 for the “Big Blue” L230 skid steer loader. The auction closes at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 2, 2011. The top three bidders will be contacted on Thursday, Nov. 3, 2011, and will have 24 hours to enter another bid. The winning bidders of the two limited edition models will be notified on Monday, Nov. 7, 2011.

Birmingham-Based Cowin Equipment Co, Reaches Out To Help Neighbors

Cowin Equipment Co. Inc is reaching out to neighbors in storm-affected areas by launching a free lunch program.  Cowin employees are daily grilling and serving food to hundreds of victims of last week’s tragic tornadoes in Cullman, and soon the program will also support Tuscaloosa, Pleasant Grove, and other heavily damaged communities.

To date, Cowin Equipment, which sells, rents and services heavy equipment in Alabama, Georgia and Florida, sent trucks loaded with large, company-owned grills to Cullman.  Company employees, friends and other volunteers cook and serve free hot dogs and hamburgers to those in need along with complimentary bottled water.

Cowin Equipment will continue to offer all food and water free of charge with support from its equipment suppliers and other generous and concerned citizens.

Cowin Equipment has also supported storm victims in other ways including:

  • A significant cash contribution to the American Red Cross.
  • A number of machines that have been loaned to charitable organizations and local government agencies.
  • Stocking all Cowin trucks in storm affected areas with bottled water and instructing its drivers to distribute water for free to anyone in need.

“We’re proud to support our community during this tragic crisis,” says Jamie Cowin, President and CEO of Cowin Equipment Company.  “It will be a while before communities are rebuilt, so in the meantime, we feel fortunate that we can contribute to the massive cleanup effort and most importantly, feed some people in need. Credit for this idea and for it’s daily implementation really goes to the whole Cowin workforce who all wanted to help in some meaningful way. Our thoughts are with all the families whom have lost their homes, business or loved ones.”

JCB 3CX Backhoe Loader Embark On Coast-To-Coast Fundraising “Road Trip” In Partnership With The American Red Cross

A 3,000-Mile Charity Drive Aims to Raise $1 Million for the American Red Cross Haiti Relief and Development Fund…

In response to the ongoing needs in Haiti, JCB, a major construction equipment manufacturer, today announced its Backhoe Across America charity drive, a national initiative in partnership with the American Red Cross. The cross-country campaign features a JCB 3CX backhoe loader, which will travel from Georgia to California to help raise the still-needed funds that will be critical to Haiti’s long-term rebuilding efforts.

With a fundraising goal of $1 million, JCB will donate all monies raised during the 26-day road trip directly to the American Red Cross Haiti Relief and Development Fund. Those who wish to make a donation to the Backhoe Across America charity drive can either visit one of the 11 route stops or go to www.JCBforHaiti.com.

No Ordinary Road Trip

The JCB 3CX backhoe loader will begin its coast-to-coast trek from the beach at Tybee Island, Ga., on Friday, March 26, 2010. The backhoe then will travel more than 3,000 miles across the U.S., making fundraising “pit stops” at JCB dealerships in nine cities along the way, before reaching its final destination – the beach at California’s Santa Monica Pier – on April 20, 2010.

“Haiti’s road to recovery will be long and difficult,” said John Patterson, chairman and CEO, JCB Inc. “On behalf of everyone at JCB, we hope that the miles traveled and donations secured during Backhoe Across America will help ease the burden of the journey that lies ahead for this devastated nation.”

No Ordinary Backhoe

On a recent episode of the National Geographic and Discovery Channel show, “Greatest Ever,” the JCB backhoe was ranked number-one on a list of the “Greatest Ever Earthmovers.” With the Backhoe Across America campaign, JCB will put the Worlds Greatest Earthmover to an even greater test to see just how far a bucketful of charity can go to help the Haitian people rebuild their lives.

In keeping with the company’s long tradition of assisting disaster-relief efforts around the world, JCB already has donated two backhoe loaders in response to Haiti’s immediate recovery needs. And, most recently, JCB pledged to provide $100,000 worth of backhoe equipment for Chile’s earthquake victims.

No Ordinary Driver

JCB veteran employee Neil Smith will be the man behind the wheel as the backhoe makes its way across America. When Neil was growing up in Rocester, England, he walked by a large factory on his way to school each and every day. That factory was JCB’s World Headquarters. Not surprisingly, Neil dreamed of operating JCB’s signature bright yellow machines – but he had no way of knowing that the manufacturer would play a major role in his life for many years to come.

Now in his 37th year with family owned th JCB, Neil will operate the 3CX machine from start to finish, traveling at speeds up to 30 mph on secondary roads, which, by law, must be used throughout the trek due to the backhoe’s maximum speed limitations.

Below is a list of the dealers who will be hosting Neil Smith and the JCB 3CX. If you’re in the area make a point to stop by and give Neil your support and a donation.
