KOBELCO Announces Enhanced SK850LC-10

KOBELCO Construction Machinery USA is pleased to introduce the enhanced SK850LC-10 excavator. The SK850LC-10 is the largest KOBELCO Generation 10 model and features cutting-edge power.

The SK850LC-10 is more durable and able to withstand the rigors of tough job sites. This KOBELCO excavator delivers a  bucket digging force of 90,598-lbs to achieve impressive work volume. Premier working ranges and a powerful 146,800-lb drawbar pull force enable the SK850LC-10 to operate in rough terrain and on slopes with increased productivity.

This robust, 185,700-lb unit is powered by a 510-hp Tier IV Final HINO engine, allowing it to tackle heavy-duty applications while remaining highly fuel efficient. While operating in ECO-mode, the SK850LC-10 boasts an impressive ~17% improvement in fuel economy compared to its predecessor. This boost in efficiency is a result of an enhanced hydraulic line layout that further reduces energy loss to ensure outstanding performance. A variable-geometry turbocharger also helps to lower fuel consumption, and a new selective catalytic reduction system decreases NOx emissions by 80% to provide low operation emissions.

An improved lever control force of 25% further lessens operator fatigue during long hours of operation, while added climate control outlets and an expanded cab interior provide a pleasant work environment. A FOPS top guard, rear-view camera and swing flashers come standard on the SK850LC-10 to enhance job site safety.

Maintenance on the SK850LC-10 is simple and cost-effective. Easy access to maintenance data from the operation management system greatly improves ease of maintenance scheduling and ensures a long service life, while easy access to the cooling unit, engine compartment and electrical components ensure convenient day-to-day maintenance.

KOBELCO Opens New North American Headquarters In Katy, TX.

vcsPRAsset_2790566_65668_f044f888-080b-4100-8a56-123f85e1b646_0Eight months after announcing plans to build a new, US based corporate headquarters, KOBELCO Construction Machinery USA opened the doors to its expansive new facility in Katy, Texas. The company will service dealers and customers throughout the United States, Canada and Latin America from this location.

According to Pete Morita, President of KOBELCO Construction Machinery USA, “Our new building was constructed to support the rapid growth of KOBELCO excavators in North America. Everything from the design to the construction of the facility was seamless. From selection of the site location to move-in day, every partner, vendor and KOBELCO employee worked tirelessly to ensure that the project stayed on track. With an extremely aggressive timetable, we couldn’t be more pleased with the end result. Our new headquarters is symbolic of KOBELCO’s success, reinforces the company’s long-term commitment to the marketplace and solidifies our worldwide position as The Excavator Authority.”

The LEED certified headquarters is located at 22350 Merchants Way in Katy, Texas. A major design consideration centered on the company’s parts warehousing capabilities. “The new facility has a custom designed floor plan and racking configuration to accommodate KOBELCO’s exponential increase in on hand parts, ensuring timely parts deliveries to authorized dealers throughout the United States and Canada,” states Eric Hoffman, National Parts Manager for KOBELCO Construction Machinery USA.

The central location of KOBELCO’s new North American headquarters allows the company to operate on extended hours to accommodate the work hours of dealers and customers across the country. Ease of access to Houston’s airports and multi-access shipping systems will allow the company to receive all shipments from overseas at local ports and ship products to dealers and customers via rail, freight or air, depending on the timeframe and need of the customer, product or part being transported.

“Parts and service is an integral and growing piece of our business. Customers demand the best and quickest service possible so we set up the new headquarters to ensure that we can react as quickly as possible to customer requests,” states Hoffman.

vcsPRAsset_2790566_70455_441bb7db-c264-4bcd-a10d-defdc1cec38b_0Along that same vein, the facility was set up for the onsite sales and service training of KOBELCO dealers. According to George Lumpkins, National Service Manager for KOBELCO, “Our new state-of-the-art training facilities will allow us to bring dealers in from all over the country for hands-on training. Our nationwide network of authorized dealers have long been regarded for their exemplary service. We work as a team to ensure KOBELCO dealers are able to continually provide these high standards of service. By partnering with our dealers on this level, we are helping ensure their success with the product line.”

KOBELCO Construction Machinery USA originally anticipated building a US Headquarters within 5 years of its independent brand relaunch, but expedited plans to do so before the end of its first year in late 2013. In January, the company officially broke ground at the site of the new facility and moved into the building in mid-September.

“Not only will this facility allow us to continue to increase KOBELCO’s brand presence throughout North and Latin America, but it will also allow us to support the local economy by creating jobs in our community,” states Morita. “KOBELCO always looks for ways to positively impact other businesses and the general population in the areas where we operate.”

KOBELCO Construction Machinery USA is dedicated to producing a full range of crawler excavators in the 3,000 lb. to 184,000 lb. classes for the rental, landscape, construction, aggregate, roadbuilding, material handling, site preparation, recycling and ancillary markets, including zero tail swing, standard, long-reach and compact models. KOBELCO is well-known worldwide as The Excavator Authority for its steadfast focus on improving and enhancing its singular line of products. KOBELCO machines are well-regarded for their advanced technologies, including an innovative noise and dust reduction system, advanced hydraulic circuitry for reduction of pressure loss and superior fuel efficiency.

KOBELCO Construction Machinery USA to Host Fundraiser at ConExpo Supporting Wounded Warrior Project

KOBELCO Construction Machinery USA announced today plans to donate $100,000 to the non-profit organization Wounded Warrior Project™ (WWP) from the sale of 5 KOBELCO SK350 limited edition crawler excavators designed to support our troops. One of these machines will be on display in Silver Lot Booth 4408 at ConExpo 2014 from March 4th – March 8th in Las Vegas, Nevada.  Supplementing the company’s donation will be monies collected from attendees making donations throughout the show in KOBELCO’s exhibit.  The WWP supports a full range of programs and services for this generation of injured veterans and their families.

Salute Our Troops Excavator 2Over 47,000 servicemen and women have been injured in the recent military conflicts. In addition to the physical wounds, it is estimated that as many as 400,000 service members live with the visible wounds of war including combat-related stress, major depression, and post-traumatic stress disorder.  Another 320,000 are believed to have experienced a traumatic brain injury while on deployment.

WWP’s 18 programs and services are uniquely structured to nurture the mind and body and encourage economic empowerment and engagement.

Throughout the 5 day ConExpo event, attendees can stop by KOBELCO’s booth to have their photo taken with this special machine, which is wrapped in graphics designed to salute our troops and includes the logos of all five of our armed force divisions. The machine’s bucket will serve as a donation drop point for attendees wishing to support the WWP. Graphic displays nearby the machines will thank the 5 authorized KOBELCO dealers who have purchased the SK350’s as well as the end-user retail customers who will put them to work in the field.

“It has been a tradition for KOBELCO to include a patriotic component in our ConExpo display every three years when this expansive show is held in Las Vegas. This year’s theme was a natural tie-in to the WWP and we are excited to be able to raise funds to help with their efforts in honoring and supporting the needs of our veterans. KOBELCO cares and is thankful for the opportunity to give something back to those men and women who sacrificed their lives to make ours safer,” states Ron Hargrave, Vice President of Operations for KOBLECO Construction Machinery USA.

All KOBELCO employees working within the booth space will help support the onsite efforts at the show to raise as many funds as possible for the WWP. The show attendance is anticipated to be over 120,000 people.
