Hilti Introduces New Products At The Rental Show

Hilti introduced 34 new products at the American Rental Association’s (ARA), The Rental Show last week. During the opening remarks, Dennis Hoops, Hilti, said that not only was the company introducing a large number of new products, it was also adding staff to be ready to meet contractors’ needs as the American Reinvestment and Recovery Act funding kicks in and gets jobs rolling.

Electric Diamond Cutters
Designed exclusively for cutting, the
Hilti DCH 230 and DCH 300 Electric Diamond Cutters have an intelligent electronic control system that constantly regulates motor power to suit the material being cut and the pressure applied to the tool. Hilti Smart Power makes these electric cutters a good choice for tough, thick materials such as reinforced concrete, granite curbstone, slabs, bricks, metal beams, steel pipes and more.

The DCH 230 and DCH 300 are designed to guide away from the operator’s body, which helps offer protection from potentially dangerous debris. Because the DCH blades are guided away from the user’s body, they are less tiring to use as the operator can make use of his or her own body weight to help guide and control the tool. Also, the low vibration of these tools help increase operator comfort even when operating for long periods. For added operator comfort, the DCH 230 and DCH 300 feature ergonomic in-line design with the grip and cutting blades in the same axis, allowing more precise guidance with less pressure.

Hilti cutting blades are specifically developed to compliment the DCH 230 and DCH 300 and ensure the highest level of performance. Covered under Hilti Lifetime Service, the Hilti DCH 230 and DCH 300 Diamond Cutters can be serviced quickly and reliably, if needed, with no additional cost to owners for two years. During the lifetime repair cost limit, which begins after the two-year no cost period, the tool will have a maximum repair cost of no greater than 30 percent of the tool’s then-current list price. Once the tool is repaired, it receives an additional six months of no cost service. The lifetime manufacturer’s warranty covers the tool against manufacturer defects for the life of the tool.

Vacuums
One of the key components of the DCH cutters is the direct attachment of the Hilti VC 20-U or VC 40-U vacuum cleaners. The environment and the operator’s productivity are improved by using the matched vacuum systems, making nearly dustless cutting possible by removing dust right at its source.

Designed to work in a wide variety of applications, such as building and construction, mechanical, electrical and interior finishing, the Hilti VC 20-U and VC 40-U are ideal for contractors who need dry and wet cutting, grinding, drilling and dry coring, wet coring, angle grinding and wood capabilities.

Equipped with 1,200-watt power and automatic power filter cleaning technology, the Hilti VC 20-U and VC 40-U vacuums offer exceptional volume-to-capacity ratio and maintain constant high suction performance for virtually dust-free working without interruption. The valve opens automatically every 15 seconds, reversing the air flow by an impressive three times per millisecond, shaking the filter clean.

Easy filter access and changeable dust bags save time, providing the user comfortable handling and effortless cleaning. The vacuums stop automatically when their tanks are full so operators never have to worry about the filter being drowned by water or slurry.

Heavy-duty wheels, a light and compact design, bigger wheel diameter and an optional ergonomic push bar handle make transport of the Hilti VC 20-U and VC 40-U no problem.

A PES Nano wet filter is reinforced with a steel plate for added sturdiness. Additionally, a HEPA filter and fleece dust bag are available if a HEPA system is required. The plastic dust bag is specially designed for easy dust disposal and the antistatic hose assures the user there will be no electrostatic discharge when connected to a tool. Lastly, the VC 40-U’s push bar handle and DPC 20 holder not only allows for comfortable handling but also provides clean and easy storage for the DPC 20 Power Conditioner if used with the Hilti DG 150 System.

Covered under Hilti Lifetime Service, owners can have the Hilti VC 20-U and VC 40-U vacuums serviced quickly and reliably, if needed, with no additional cost for 1 year. During the lifetime repair cost limit, which begins after the one-year no cost period, the tool will have a maximum repair cost of no greater than 30 percent of the tool’s then-current list price. Once the tool is repaired, it receives an additional three months of no cost service. The lifetime manufacturer’s warranty covers the tool against manufacturer defects for the life of the tool.

Combihammers
The new Hilti TE 60 Combihammer combines both power and control for heavy-duty drilling with added safety. Its strong 1,200-watt motor delivers power for a variety of applications, offering outstanding drilling, chiseling and demolition in concrete, stone and masonry. Available models include the TE 60 and the TE 60 ATC-AVR, which adds Active Torque Control (ATC) and Active Vibration Reduction (AVR) to the TE 60 model.

Both models feature an optimized mechanical clutch for maximum torque as well as an excellent power-to-weight, resul
ting in excellent productivity for a wide range of applications. The TE 60 is ideal for drilling holes for rebar dowels and anchor bolts, through-hole coring for electrical and mechanical applications, chiseling concrete and much more. On any construction site, the TE 60 is the perfect workhorse.

A tool this powerful stills needs to provide built-in comfort and safety for the user. The ergonomic design of both models offers a center of gravity close to the comfortable grip for good balance and control. The TE 60 ATC-AVR model offers even more. ATC shuts the motor off in a fraction of a second if the drill bit sticks and the tool body rotates too quickly, providing added operator protection. ATC also disengages the drive system to prevent further rotation from the momentum of the tool’s motor. AVR provides a built-in mass damper system that reduces vibration by up to two-thirds, increasing comfort and reducing long-term vibration exposure. For drilling and hammering under the toughest conditions, TE 60 models offer the power to tackle virtually every job and the control needed to do it safely.

With a glass-fiber reinforced housing, well-tuned motor and an efficient cooling system, the Hilti TE 60 is built to work for the long haul. Hilti’s Lifetime Service, a unique service agreement that includes two years of no-cost coverage, backs all models.

Green Rotating Laser
Green laser technology offers users new options. The revolutionary green laser offered in the Hilti PR 26 Rotating Laser improves visibility in indoor applications compared to standard red lasers and outperforms other green beam lasers. A new built-in alignment system improves productivity.

Depending on the intensity of ambient light, the PR 26 is four times more visible to the human eye than other class III lasers, greatly improving productivity in large buildings with significant distance between walls — the PR 26 has a range up to 975 feet diameter with the laser receiver. While contractors in the past would have to continuously stop working to move a laser closer to their work areas and realign it, the Hilti PR 26 green laser maintains its visibility.

The green laser isn’t the only revolutionary technology on the PR 26. Productivity is also enhanced through the Auto Alignment System with remote control. The rotation alignment function is available, and the remote control doubles as a laser receiver to save time and reduce labor costs. The tool’s built-in line function allows the user’s hands to remain free for other tasks once the rotating laser is set to the right height.

The PR 26 delivers on productivity and durability to fit jobsite environments. Each standard tool comes with a rechargeable battery pack and charger to provide each customer 22 hours of continuous working time per full charge. Along with a housing that helps protect the unit from dust and water spray, a built-in shock warning system reduces the potential for off level measurements should the laser get knocked off level. Rated for use between -4 degrees to 122 degrees F, the laser provides reliable, accurate service on the jobsite all year round.

The new laser is available with a variety of accessories including a finely adjustable wall bracket that allows the height of the rotating laser to be accurately set to the millimeter. The PR 26 fits on Hilti and competitive tripods. When mounted in the wall bracket or on the tripod, the PR 26 allows many jobs to be handled by one person using the remote control as a laser receiver.

Hilti lasers are dedicated to precision accuracy and, even with Hilti’s built-in protection features, such instruments can be affected over time by everyday use and more. The PR 26 is backed by Hilti Calibration Service to provide reliability and accuracy. The PR 26 will be calibrated and adjusted as needed, with the calibration confirmed in writing for professional assurance. Hilti’s Lifetime Service, a unique service agreement that includes two years of no-cost coverage, also covers the PR 26.
