New Report Evaluates Condition And Funding Needs Of Rhode Island Roads & Bridges
A new report that evaluates the current condition, use and funding of Rhode Island’s surface transportation system will be released at a news conference in Providence at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, October 7.
The report, “Future Mobility in Rhode Island: Meeting the State’s Need for Safe and Efficient Mobility,” analyzes road and bridge conditions, traffic congestion, economic development and job creation, highway safety, and transportation funding in Rhode Island. TRIP’s report calculates the total shortfall in state transportation funding over the next ten years and identifies needed transportation projects throughout the state that can not move forward without additional funding. TRIP is a national nonprofit transportation research group based in Washington, DC.
TRIP’s Carolyn Bonifas will present the findings of the report at the news conference. Local officials will also be on hand to comment on the report.
