ICUEE 2009 – The Demo Expo Update

Site-K Construction Zone has been running a lot of information on the up-coming ICUEE 2009 – The Demo Expo scheduled to run October 6-8, 2009 at the Kentucky Exposition Center in Louisville, KY. We have had several e-mails from website visitors regarding our extensive coverage. The reason we are doing this is because we believe that this will end up being one of the most important shows this year. For all practical purposes, this is an “Infrastructure Show.” Earlier we gave our support to the American Rental Association (ARA) and The Rental Show 2009 and the World of Asphalt (WOA). We didn’t give them the same attention we are giving ICUEE because we were just getting started. If they were running this fall, you can bet we’d give them as much coverage as possible.

ICUEE will not only be an excellent venue for viewing the latest in utility construction equipment technology, it will be one of the best opportunities to network with other contractors, manufacturers and dealers in the same business.

Recently, we sent this letter out to all ICUEE exhibitors in an effort to collect information which we will provide as part of our pre-show coverage.

Dear ICUEE Exhibitor:

Although ICUEE is still 6 months away, it will be here before you know it! ICUEE will be one of the most important industry events of the year. Infrastructure stimulus dollars are finding their way to every state and are funding thousands of construction projects, putting construction crews back to work.

If any industry event is focused on infrastructure construction, it is ICUEE.

By the time ICUEE gets here, contractors will have had time to evaluate their immediate equipment needs and make important decisions about what will help them successfully compete in this highly competitive construction arena. ICUEE will give you the opportunity to display and demonstrate your products during this critical decision-making time.

On Site-K Construction Zone, ICUEE show updates will run regularly, providing show attendees with as much information as possible so that they will be able to make the most valuable use of their time in Louisville.

Between the equipment and educational sessions, contractors will be challenged to see and do everything they would like to accomplish.

As part of our pre-show coverage, we will list all the exhibitors with booth locations. We would like to include pictures/videos of products that will be on display along with a brief overview of what attendees can expect to see.

To be included in this pre-show listing, please email pictures, videos and booth information to me at: greg.sitek@comcast.net.

See you at ICUEE.

The following is the latest in ICUEE show updates:

Exhibit space sales for the 2009 International Construction and Utility Equipment Exposition (ICUEE) are within 10 percent of surpassing the record-breaking numbers of the last show, held in 2007. And, while it’s still early, advance registration is tracking consistent with the 2007 show cycle.

“These precarious economic times have certainly affected our industry, but our exhibitors understand the business value of ICUEE and other AEM trade shows,” stated show director Melissa Magestro of the Association of Equipment Manufacturers (AEM). “They know they can conveniently connect with customers at ICUEE to exchange information and demonstrate their latest products and innovations.”

Attendees will find more to see and do at ICUEE than ever before, Magestro added. “We have 100 percent more education, more industry co-locations to enhance networking, and more new products and technologies on the show site. It’s a once-every-two-years showcase of the best the industry has to offer, all in one place in a centrally located U.S. city,” she stated.

More than 1 million net square feet of exhibit space has already been reserved by returning exhibitors, large to small, as well as new-to-show companies. They represent a broad range of equipment, products and services for the electric, phone and cable, sewer and water, gas, general construction, landscaping and public works sectors. Attendees can “test drive” the equipment on display in job-like conditions, including a “ride and drive” program for on-road commercial vehicles.

Visit the show website for the latest information on attending or exhibiting at the show – www.icuee.com. Exhibitors can go online to streamline their exhibit experience by accessing the online services manual and marketing kit, the latest floor plans, directory listing forms and information on sponsorship opportunities.

Attendees can pre-plan their show visit to maximize their time onsite by using the website’s interactive exhibitor directory and agenda planner. They can search for companies by product, key word or booth number (in addition to company name), locate exhibitors on a virtual trade show map, and assemble a personalized list of the exhibitors and products they most want to see onsite. Education sessions and meetings can be added, and attendees can also query exhibitors pre-show for more information or to set up meetings.

A New Products and Technologies section of the website will feature the latest exhibitor product innovations to help attendees find them faster at the show. And, site visitors can keep up with the latest news on industry issues, trends and technologies through the site’s Industry Intelligence section.

A special International Visitors section provides information for non-U.S. attendees, including visa application assistance.

The 2009 ICUEE education encompasses more than 115 classroom sessions, plus field trips and an Advanced HDD workshop. New programs/sessions are from Gas Technology Institute (GTI), Incident Prevention (iP), Industrial Utility Vehicle (IUV), National Rural Water Association (NRWA), Outside Plant (OSP) and Underground Construction Technology (UCT).

New co-locations at ICUEE for 2009 are the inaugural H2O-XPO show (water and wastewater) from NRWA, which is also holding its annual convention in conjunction with ICUEE 2009, as well as the IUV Technical Conference and exhibit pavilion (design and engineering) and the iP Safety Conference and Safety Zone exhibit pavilion (safety and training).

“Now, more than ever, industry professionals need maximum productivity and efficiencies from their businesses. There’s no more cost effective way than ICUEE 2009 to comparison shop for products and share knowledge and experiences with their industry peers,” stated Magestro.

Advance registration is available online for the exhibits (a 50-percent saving off the onsite fee) and for education sessions (also at a cost savings), and attendees can make hotel and travel arrangements online.

Stay tuned for more updates.
