New Show Set for 2011 in Mumbai, India

Messe München GmbH (MMG), the organizer of bauma in Munich, Germany and bauma China in Shangai, China, and the Association of Equipment Manufacturers (AEM), which runs CONEXPO in Las Vegas, NV, have reached an agreement on closer cooperation in organizing international construction machinery trade fairs.

Under the title of ‘bC India – A bauma CONEXPO show’, the organizers are pleased to announce a joint international trade fair for construction machinery, building material machines, mining machines, and construction vehicles. The show is scheduled to take place for the first time in February 2011 in Mumbai. The organizers plan to establish a joint venture to run the show.

Eugen Egetenmeir, deputy managing director of MMG, sees considerable potential in this cooperation. “Industry has given a positive response to the idea of an international trade fair for the construction industry in the growth market of India. Through the cooperation between Messe München and AEM, the new event is set to quickly establish itself as an international platform,” Egetenmeir said.

Dennis Slater, president of AEM, concurs. “Both Messe München and AEM are leaders in establishing and producing world-class exhibitions. Our cooperation will bring a combined international expertise to the Indian marketplace, for the benefit of bC India participants and the involved industry,” he noted.

Bauma, held every three years, is the largest construction equipment trade show in the world. It was last held in April 2007 and attracted 500,000 visitors. Its sister show, bauma China, is held every two years in Shanghai. The November 2008 event attracted 113,000 visitors, making it the largest construction equipment show in Asia.

AEM’s CONEXPO-CON/AGG show is held every three years in Las Vegas. The next show is scheduled for March 2011, and AEM is expecting 140,000 visitors, making it the largest event of its kind in North America.

Further details about the event in India will be announced in summer 2009.
