U.S. Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood announced that the Florida Supreme Court upheld Gov. Rick Scott’s decision to reject $2.4 billion in high speed rail federal stimulus funding intended for the state. The funding will now be redistributed to other states.
STATEMENT FROM THE AMERICAN HIGH SPEED RAIL ALLIANCE
“The American High Speed Rail Alliance is extremely disappointed with Governor Scott’s decision to reject the $2.4 billion in federal high speed rail funding awarded to Florida. While this is a significant loss for the future of high speed rail in Florida, the Alliance believes this is a great opportunity for the US DOT to redistribute the funds to the dozens of other states that are eager to invest in 21st century infrastructure projects.”
