Vince Fontimayor has been appointed to the position of product manager, mining and rock excavation technology, for Atlas Copco CMT USA in Commerce City, Colo., effective June 11. In his new role, Fontimayor will report directly to Jon Torpy, business line manager for rotary blasthole drills.
Fontimayor, who has a Bachelor of Science in electrical engineering technology from Old Dominion University, comes to Atlas Copco from the U.S. Navy. During his 7 ½ years in the military, which he concluded as a Lieutenant, Surface Warfare Officer, he served as Communications Officer on the missile frigate USS Rentz, Operations Officer on the USS Blue Ridge and Training Officer on the USS Vandergrift.
Fontimayor will be responsible for supporting sales and marketing of all technology products for the Mining and Rock Excavation Technique business lines in the United States. He will work closely with the business line managers as well as customers to support Atlas Copco technology and identify growth opportunities.
