Update on the Road Connection From Andrew Gillman

Friends of The Road Connection:

A big hello from western Pennsylvania, as we are smack-dab in the middle of a string of dealer events before we wrap up The Road Connection campaign in Yankton, South Dakota on September 20th. We just wanted to provide you a brief update on where the campaign stands, and what’s in store for us as we finish up our road tour.

Yesterday, we had a great time visiting our friends at Mine Equipment & Design. On hand at the event were representatives from both Speaker Boehner’s office, and U.S. Senator Sherrod Brown’s office. We were also honored to speak with two Ohio State Senators, Bill Coley and Bill Seitz, and three Executive Directors from industry associations. The day included speeches, networking, and lunch provided by Mine Equipment & Design. You can see photos from the event on our Flickr (www.flickr.com/theroadconnection) and Facebook (www.facebook.com/theroadconnection) pages. Also, attached please find a press release outlining the event.

This week, we will be traveling to the greater Pittsburgh area to visit Murrysville Machinery, and from there we head north to Elma, New York where we will hold an open house with Baschmann Services, Inc.

This leg marks the final push of The Road Connection national tour before we celebrate the progress that the industry has made at the KPI-JCI National Dealer Conference in Yankton, South Dakota on September 20th. Although the road tour is coming to an end, the work is not done. We, as an industry, have a responsibility to each other to continue to urge our lawmakers to invest in U.S. infrastructure. Fear not, The Road Connection will continue to be a presence in the industry, and we appreciate your continued support as we define what our role in our industry will be moving forward.

Finally, we would like to sincerely thank all the members of the media who have picked up our stories and run them in their publications. It is because of your support that we have been able to spread our message, and make the campaign a success. Thank you from all of us at The Road Connection.

Mine Equipment & Design Opens Doors to The Road Connection

The Road Connection made their way east to participate in a string of open houses at equipment dealer locations in Ohio, Pennsylvania, and New York. Last Friday, The Road Connection stopped at Mine Equipment & Design in Harrison, Ohio.

The open house at Mine Equipment & Design included networking opportunities, a number of presentations from keynote speakers, and a luncheon provided by the southwestern Ohio-based equipment dealer.

In attendance were a number of politicians in support of investing in U.S. infrastructure, including a representative from Speaker Boehner’s office, a representative from U.S. Senator Sherrod Brown’s office, and two State Senators; Senator Bill Coley and Senator Bill Seitz.

The representative from Senator Sherrod Brown’s office, Mr. John Ryan expressed the Senator’s feelings on infrastructure during his speech. “This is such an important issue to support,” explained Mr. Ryan. Although his remarks were generally positive, Mr. Ryan also echoed the message of The Road Connection that lawmakers should be able to do better. “We used to be able to pass a 5-year bill. We need to get back to those days,” says Ryan.

In an energetic speech by State Senator, Bill Seitz, he explained his position on infrastructure. “Not only does [investing in infrastructure] produce jobs now, it creates an asset that is serviceable for generations,” said the State Senator.

The Road Connection now heads to Murrysville Machinery for an open house on September 10th.
